Class Levels - Back to Class Details
Basic - Flute, Whistle & Fiddle
This class is for you if you want an introduction to good basic technique and command of your particular instrument. It is suitable for you if you have moved beyond the 'beginners' stage and are able to play a selection of dance tunes i.e. a jig, hornpipe, march, reel, air etc.
We envisage this class will cover 1-2 tunes each day
Please feel free to bring a recording device.
Intermediate - Flute & Whistle
This class is for you if you want to improve on technique i.e. fingerwork, breathing, phrasing, ornamentation, and will also develop confidence in playing solo. It is suitable for people who have a repertoire of 20- 30 tunes.
We envisage this class will cover 2-4 tunes each day

Intermediate - Fiddle
This class is for you if you want to improve on technique i.e. grace notes, rolls, bowed triplets and will also develop confidence in playing solo. It is suitable for people who have a repertoire of 20-30 tunes.

Advanced Technique - Flute
The emphasis here is the study of specific playing techniques including tone production, advanced finger ornamentation, use of keys and improved listening skills. It is suitable for people who wish to explore the range of techniques available on their instrument and how to incorporate these into their own repertoire. These classes will be illustrated by the teachers with sound recordings.

Advanced Technique - Fiddle
The emphasis here is the study of specific playing techniques including bow work, advanced finer ornamentation, 4th finger drones, double stopping, octave playing and to improve listening skills. It is suitable for people who wish to expore the range of techniques available on their instrument and how to incorporate these into their own repertoire. These classes will be illustrated by the teachers with sound recordings.

Advanced Repertoire - Flute & Fiddle
This interactive and participatory class will assist players enrich their understanding of the repertoire for their instrument, focus intensively on tune versions and variations within tunes and improve listening skills. It is suitable for people with extensive playing experience and who wish to develop a deeper appreciation of Irish Traditional Music repertoire. These classes will be illustrated by the teachers with sound recordings.

Composition & Arrangement of Irish Music
Through sharing his experience as a composer and an arranger, Neil will encourage participants to create new material within a traditional context and to seek out effective approaches to arranging.
